An FT Weekend commission for a portrait of teenage activist Ahed Tamimi for the ‘Lunch With FT’ feature. I made the most of her distinctive hair and also designed a backdrop from the pendant on her necklace.
A Financial Times Weekend commission for a decorative portrait of Leila Slimani as part of their Millennials feature.
The portrait of writer Leila Slimani appeared in the Life & Arts section of the newspaper for a piece interviewing Millennial adults on their creative careers. Slimani was interviewed at the Marco Polo restaurant in Paris for the 'Light Lunch with...' section and the Art Director wanted me to capture the feel of the restaurant in the background art, using the colours and furniture as a way to link Slimani to the interior. I made a tile pattern using the light shades, chair rims and general decor as a backdrop to the portrait, making the final piece look fairly exotic and capturing her Moroccan roots".
I was commissioned by USA's Slate Magazine to complete 7 portraits for an upcoming cover story on American citizens who don't believe Hillary Clinton will make a good President. The deadline was very tight with only 24 hours to complete all portraits. The final story can be seen here.
